District Information for COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Extended Break Information and Details

On April 20, 2020, Governor Mike DeWine directed that, in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), all K-12 school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. All Morgan Local School students will continue learning at home. Teachers will continue contacting their students, working with the online, via telephone, and other methods to keep students actively engaged in their studies.

Central Office will be open by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please call 740-962-2782.

Due to the current health concern, Morgan Local School District has postponed kindergarten screening. Once the new dates have been determined, the community will be notified.

As for Preschool, registration is postponed for the Early Child Education Grant programs. We will announce when we will begin sign ups again.

Effective immediately and until further notice: Morgan Local Schools is suspending all Background Fingerprinting for non-district employees. We are doing this in an effort to adhere to social distancing recommendations. We will keep you updated as this changes.

Class of 2020 Grad Information Letter


End of Year Medication Pick-up

If your child took medications during the school year, please plan to pick up any remaining medication from the school building next week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  or call the school building to set up a time to pick up medication.

Medication not picked up by May 22nd will be discarded following the Ohio Department of Health’s medication disposable guidelines. Parent/guardian’s signature is required when picking up medications. Thank you.

Will there be a food distribution?   Food distribution will be on Mondays in May (4th, 11th, and 18th) from 11-12 at East, South, and West.  Families will be able to pick up bags for each student in the household, and bags will contain 5 days of breakfasts and lunches.  You may pick up bags at any convenient location, regardless of where your child attends.

Does my student have to turn in the work they have been asked to complete?  If so, when?  Students can work with their teachers regarding this, as some teachers may prefer families to take pictures of the completed work and text/email them. There will also be drop-off tubs available at each of the food distribution locations (East, South, and West).  Work for any building may be dropped off in any location – please make it clear on the work where you want the assignments to go (teacher and building).

Will students will be held back or will they pass on to the next grade level?   Students will not be held back due equity issues that have been revealed by the corona virus closure.  If there are concerns about your student reaching the next grade level, feel free to reach out to your teacher or principal.

 Will we have kindergarten/preschool registration and screening?  We have not yet determined a date for screening.  Registration information can be obtained by contacting Leslie Robbins at This email address is being protected from spambots. Are the big trips cancelled?  The Washington DC trip has been cancelled and refunds have been distributed. The NYC trip was scheduled through the band boosters and not the school district; therefore, you will need to contact the band director or Boosters for more information. 

How do we pay our class fees?  General school fees do not have to be paid by the end of the year.  Specific fees, such as those associated with career tech or other special programming, will require contacting the building principal.

How do we return school materials like text books, library books, and school computers? You may return any text books or library books during the scheduled food distributions on May 11th and 18th at East, West or South elementary schools from 11:00 to 12:00. For those not participating in food pickup, you may come to any school building between the hours of 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You will need to ring the bell at the front door and instructions will be given over the intercom.

Those students who checked out Chromebooks or laptops for home use are welcome to keep them through the summer. They may be returned in the fall on the first day of school. You may also return them with your textbooks if you wish. You are still responsible for the care and condition of your device.
